Review of Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic

By Bella @bellassima_essex

And on Twitter @bellassima

I’ll preface this by saying, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff!  Still, I don’t expect you to take my word for it, so I’ll tell you for why.  Glow Tonic is my second step after cleansing, morning and night.  With a cotton wool or a cotton beauty pad, squeeze a little on and gently go over your neck and face with it.

Now the magic happens…

bella fixedI found out quite on accident how nice this tonic really is.  One morning, in my usual hitherdither rush-a-thon, I had washed my face and settled down to my usual routine of toner, serum, eye cream, moisturiser, however, something else cropped up needing doing – as per – so after apply the Glow Tonic, I was off and running.  Somewhere along the way the thought occurred to me that I had not finished the morning face ritual… but… my face wasn’t feeling dry! I felt my skin and it felt moisturised!  This couldn’t be.  Let’s face it, if any of you have had to cut short your routine at normal toner, you would be cracking at this point… well, I know I would be!  My skin would feel as dry as parched earth.  Not so with Glow Tonic, but why?

pixi glow tonicHere is my answer straight from Pixi Beauty’s website:

“Our Pixi Glow Tonic Collection helps you achieve glowing, refined skin whether you’re at home or on the go. Pixi Glow Tonic is a radiance-enhancing toning necessity that helps remove impurities while also hydrating and protecting your skin. Our 5% glycolic acid formula gives a deep yet gentle cleanse, leaving the pores refined and purified. Then, aloe vera soothes while nourishing and hydrating the skin to Pixi perfection.”

Not to mention “All our Pixi Glow Tonics are alcohol-free and cruelty-free. So, go ahead – get glowing!”

Well done, Pixi 😊 I will always get my glow on with you!

Update Friday, New Product Review Soap and Glory

Vitamin C facial wash Soap and Glory
Vitamin C Facial Wash, Soap and Glory at Boots.co.uk

Just a quick one, really.  Firstly, I just tried out another amazing Soap and Glory product – Vitamin C Facial Wash. I have used their products off and on over the years, but this facial wash is the loveliest soapy – not soapy [read the label and you’ll see why I said that] cleanser I’ve ever used.  It is lightly scented, so it won’t offend your nose.  It is for all skin types, and it is packed with Vitamin C which is good for our skin of any age group.  It does not leave my skin feeling stiff and left for dry afterwards and does it ever clean! I should have taken a snap of my white crocheted face flannel after!  Makes one wonder how dirty a face can get overnight.

Next, I wanted to let everyone know that I have created a YouTube for Bellassima.  Mind, the first video is only a small one about the very product I touted in the first paragraph.  But I’m hoping to start getting brave and pop up some how-to vids, makeup haul vids, reviews of products, giveaways, and the like…And, please don’t forget to suscribe! Which brings me to the next update…

In a few weeks [I promise it won’t be very many], I am planning a giveaway.  I just need to work out the details and make sure all the products are in order.  So, stay tuned for that one and I will tell you more as the time grows nearer.

I hope everybody is having a fab Friday and I shall be back next week… unless I feel the need to shout out about something fabulous again 😊 Have a lovely weekend.

Review Color Club Nail Polish in Rocky Mountain High

By Bella

So, I was gifted this nail varnish, Rocky Mountain High by Color Club, by someone special whom I would never point toward reading this blog or it would hurt her feelings a bit… I’m always ready to try new items and the colour is one I like – a deep burgundy which was very right for the time of year, Christmas, when she gifted it me.  I regret to report that the polish itself was problematic at best.

First, it went on quite sloppily.  I don’t believe that was quite down to me. I have a lot of problems at my age, but shaky hands aren’t one of those and I have been varnishing my nails for half a century or a bit more, therefore, I’m a dap hand at getting between the lines.

Next, no matter what tricks I tried – and I have a few for these circumstances – it just wouldn’t go on smoothly.  It kind of reminded me of when I was a child, my Aunty Win would give me her old varnishes to play dress up with.  For an 8-year-old, I felt ever so much an adult when Aunty Win gave me a handful of old varnishes and lippies to play with, I felt like I had won the pools!  So, I would never, ever complain that they were gloppy and stringy and downright difficult to put on my little chewed down stubs.  Not to mention, I felt damned glamourous once they did dry… eventually!

This is exactly how the Color Club varnish went on:  Quite puddly, stringy, and all over the shop.  However, I managed to clean down the cuticles and after several lashings of topcoat, I could take this snap to let you see that, it is quite an incredibly lush burgundy.

The best part of this experience, however, is that it fondly brought back to mind my Aunty Win and how she trusted I would know exactly what to do with all those old nail varnishes she gave me… and how she helped form my love for all things cosmetic as I grew older.  She isn’t around any longer, sadly, but I’m quite sure she would be proud of how much I’ve learned over the years.  And prouder still that I did the same thing for my daughters as she did for me.

And, I’m grateful to my friend and this gift of nail varnish that fought me tooth and nail, because of the dear memory it conjured.  That is why I shall keep it.

Many thanks for reading,
